Highlighting Black-Owned Businesses On Shop

Shopify’s mission has always been to help all people — no matter their race, religion, gender, sexuality or otherwise — achieve independence by making it easier to start, run and grow a business. We are committed to elevating the awareness of Black-owned businesses to support more voices in entrepreneurship, democratize commerce and reduce the barriers to starting a business for everyone. 

Today, our mobile shopping assistant app, Shop, is launching a new way for shoppers to support Black-owned businesses. This initiative is part of our overall commitment to elevating more voices within entrepreneurship and comes on the heels of our $1 million donation to NAACP, Black Health Alliance Canada, and Campaign Zero. Today, through a feature that highlights Black-owned businesses in the app, shoppers can now see brands such as BLK MKT Vintage, Coco and Breezy Eyewear and Golde. This feature will help Black-owned businesses reach new customers, allowing shoppers to discover, follow and support these brands. As more Black-owned businesses opt-in to be featured, we’re excited to surface even more of their stories and products. Shop will continue to evolve the experience to present a diversity of voices that reflects our mission to make commerce better for everyone.
